This Year’s Focus: Deep reading the Shang Han Lun in the context of modern disease

In this year’s online Kampo study group, copresented by the New York Kampo Institute and the High Desert Hari Society, we will be exporing the history and clinical use of the text of the Shang Han Lun in the Koho Kampo Tradition.

Our aim is to distinguish the application of Shang Han Lun theory in herbs from that of acupuncture and philosophy. We will clearly identify each of the six divisions in terms of both physical anatomy and location of disease and patho-mechanisms and specify the clinical evidence that characterizes the sho/pattern of each of the stages, and how they interact and overlap.

Prior to each session, you will receive a list of formulas to be included in the discussion for that session in order for you to prepare in advance and refamiliarize yourself with them.

All paricipants will receive not only the zoom link, but also a recording of the study group session and access to all study materials provided.

Cost:

$250 for students and practitioners. All participants must have studied with Nigel or the NYKI before joining study group. Cancelations before August 31 2026 will receive a full refund. After August 31, refunds are not available.
